It is my view that in our American culture specifically, we are taught that we need to be, exceptionally good at an art form in order to practice it. I think this mode of thinking is what prevents us all from taking ownership of our culture and re-weaving it in ways we desire so that culture can be an active part of the fabric of everyday life. We are our culture, and I think it’s our responsibility and right to share all kinds of art with all kinds of people.
